About the opportunity
Working with the Chief remote pilot in flight duties, the Lead Pilot will gather flight data in VLOS, BVLOS, and in 'proof of concept operations’. These activities will assist in the creation of key outcomes and viable remotely piloted aircraft networks for our clients.
Nurturing effective relationships with colleagues within a small and agile team is very important.
This position will require regional and interstate travel.
- Serve as Lead Pilot for a variety of UAV
- Assist with technical analysis and reports
- Participate in reviews of Flight Data and Human Factors
- Assist in the Development of procedures for UAV operations
- Be the lead pilot in a multi-crew environment
- Review and contribute to Pilot Operating Handbooks, related guidance documents etc
- Must be able to work in a high stress environment when required
Needless to say, teamworking, communication skills and a safety first mindset are critical.
- Commercial Pilot Licence
- <25kg RePL or equivalent (such as Part 107 licence) preferable
- Instrument Rating
- Be able to hold an Australian ASIC card
- Knowledge of Australian (CASA) and global (ICAO) regulatory developments
- Knowledge of the UAS Implementing Regulations and framework for the safe operation of UAS within the Open, Specific and Certified Category
- Be independent and motivated; able to self‐direct and manage time effectively
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred qualifications
- Willingness to work shifts with occasional extended duty (within CAO 48)
- Outback flight experience
- Instructor rating
